David F. Lyons, Sr.
President and CEO

Since founding the company in 1984, David has built the Lyons Companies to meet the diverse risk management needs of evolving businesses and the people who run them. Drawing on his deep industry expertise and his perspective as an independent business owner, he has guided the Lyons Companies to a remarkable track record of service excellence and growth.  

 

The company earned the Best Practice Agency award from the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers Association in 2007, 2008 and 2009. In those same years, Lyons appeared on the Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in the country, which listed Lyons at the top in its field of insurance-related businesses.

 

David also contributes to the community by serving on several boards and executive committees, including those of the Delaware Business Roundtable, Artisans’ Bank, and the Delaware Council for Economic Education and Entrepreneurship at the University of Delaware.

 

David’s efforts to establish a Fellowship in Dentistry for Children with Special Needs earned him The Inspiration Award in 2009 from the Nemours Partnership for Children’s Health. It was only the second time Nemours had bestowed this honor.


 

Harry M. Garrett, CPA

Vice President and CFO

 

Harry is responsible for oversight of the
firm’s accounting and budgetary processes.
He also has accountability for company-wide payroll security and compliance, and the financial review and approval of significant contracts, capital expenditure appropriations and real estate transactions.

Harry has spent over twenty years providing fiscal guidance to a broad range of industries while developing expertise in the fields of insurance and financial services.


A native Delawarean, Harry earned a B.A. in Chemistry at Duke University and studied accounting at the University of Delaware.



Kevin C. Thomas, ARM
Chief Operating Officer

Kevin is responsible for maintaining best-practice service standards for the Lyons’ commercial, employee benefits and private client service teams.  He works within each discipline to identify opportunities that create efficiency and improve accuracy with the goal of producing a top-tier work product and customer experience.


Kevin has significant systems and workflow experience, and has an extensive background working with national and regional brokers.  He is responsible for talent acquisition, facilitating training and vetting and contracting vendor services.  He is a problem solver and solution producer, working with our Assurex Partners to establish and meet global service expectations.


Kevin is a member of the Lyons Companies management team.   He is a graduate of Goldey Beacom College holding a B.S. degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Legal Studies.  He earned his M.B.A. degree in Marketing and Human Resource Management. Kevin has attained the Associate Risk Management designation.
