Update: New Filing Deadline for 2019 and 2020 EEO-1 Component 1 Data Collection

June 30, 2021

On Tuesday, June 29, 2021, The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) announced an extension to the deadline for filing the EEO-1 form from July 19 to Aug. 23.

Businesses with 100 or more employees and some federal contractors with at least 50 employees must submit an annual EEO-1 form, which asks for information from the previous year about the number of employees who worked for the business, sorted by job category, race, ethnicity and gender.

The EEOC did not collect such data in 2020 due to the coronavirus crisis. Covered employers now have until the new deadline of Monday, August 23, 2021, to submit both their 2019 and 2020 data.

Filers should visit the newly launched EEO-1 Component 1 website here for the latest filing updates and additional information. By visiting the Filer Support Center located at https://EEOCdata.org/eeo1/support, filers can request assistance as well as find helpful resources, including fact sheets and FAQs.
